About Me

I work for Cycorp in Austin, Texas. It is a small semantic AI company that has been a thing since 1985.

Before that, I was a instructor in the Philosophy Department at Missouri State University, a visiting assistant professor at Coastal Carolina University, an adjunct professor at Boise State University, and a part-time instructor at Syracuse University.

I am originally from a small town in Idaho (specifically, Buhl, Idaho, which is the exact center of the known universe). I received my B.A. from Boise State University, my M.A. from Miami University, and my Ph.D. from Syracuse University.

Other Interests

I write short stories. This aspect of my life has been garnering more of my energy lately, with some happy results. See my fiction page for further details.

I am a daily runner (aka a streak runner). Since January 1, 2011, I've run at least a mile every day.

In addition, I'm a fifth-degree black belt (associate master) in Shao-lin Kung Fu. If you have a board that you need to have broken, I'm your person.

LATEX

I'm really keen on LaTeX for all of my writing needs. If you like the look of the documents linked to here, contact me, and I can help you get started.
